April, 13, 2021: Congratulations to the PRISM team: Emily Bartley PhD, Amber Brooks MD, Cynthia Garvan PhD, Angela Mickle MS, and Kimberly Sibille PhD, MA on their recent award from the Research Centers Collaborative Network: Inter-NIA Center Pilot Proposals on Life Course Perspectives on Aging and Resilience and Reserve in Aging. This multi-disciplinary research team representing NIA Centers at the University of Florida and Wake Forest was recently funded for their study Protective Resilience Index for Successful Aging in Musculoskeletal Pain (PRISM). The study will refine and confirm the components of a clinically applicable resilience index with consideration for sociodemographic group differences. The goal of this line of investigation is to facilitate the development of a tool that will assist healthcare providers in communicating findings and promoting adherence to clinical interventions, help illuminate novel and effective treatment targets, reduce pain-related disparities, and enhance health and functioning among aging populations.
